Are you planning your wedding and you’re still not sure if you want to do a First Look? I’ve shot weddings both ways, and I can assure you–there’s no right or wrong way to do it. But, in case you are on the fence, here are a few reasons my couples LOVE doing First Looks…

Every time Ivory + Beau comes to me with an idea for a styled shoot, I know it’s going to be even more creative and beautiful than the last. I don’t know how to choose favorites from all the shoots we’ve done together, but if I haaaaaddd to choose, it might be this one we did last summer. It’s the perfect boho blend of 70s meets vintage chic with a modern twist–oh, and did I mention the whole thing took place out at Savannah General Aviation??

The first time I met Kristin + Matt was on their wedding day. I already knew from our conversations that I was going to love this sweet couple, but you know what sealed the deal? When Kristin hugged me hello like she’d known me for years. (My mom taught me that a good hug is a tight hug, and that hugging when you greet someone is the best way to make them feel welcomed, so I’ve always been a “hugger.”)  

Let’s be honest—even with our best intentions and hardest work, we all get a little behind on things sometimes. And one of those things for me this past year was the Apt. B blog. I had such good plans to blog consistently last year, and it just never happened. BUT, I don’t want you to miss out on my lovely 2015 weddings and shoots, and now that I’m consistently blogging again, I thought that it might be fun to do a #tbt series every Thursday! I’ll post weddings, engagement shoots and styled shoots that happened before the current wedding season so that we can all relive some of the lovely moments that have taken place in the last year. And first up in the series is Alex + Ricky’sOglethorpe Square ceremony and Soho South Cafe reception!

Sweet friends, it’s officially family photo shoot season, which only happens twice a year! I’ll be booking family shoots from now through the weekend of Sept. 17/18, and then they won’t be offered again until January. So I knowwww, it feels so early to be thinking about Christmas cards (goodness knows I can’t stand it when we start talking Christmas before Halloween even gets here), but the time is here if you want me to take your photos for your Christmas cards this year. I have availability on weekdays and weekends, so drop me a note to claim your shoot date. ❤️

I honestly don’t know how to even begin describing the magic of Eve + Pat’s wedding day. Do I start with all the Harry Potter details (Eve’s ceremony entrance music, her shoes, the reading during the ceremony, be still my Harry Potter-loving heart), or talk about how Eve + Pat made each other laugh SO hard all day, or mention that they included their dogs in their First Look, or swoon over Eve’s pink polka dot wedding dress, or gush about her flower crown and succulent-filled bouquet, or tell you about all the string lights and donuts and dancing….

I think that Savannah is always the most magical place on earth, but Savannah on a rainy day takes it to a whole different level of lovely.

The trees turn a rich green. The sidewalks shimmer. The gas lamps flicker. And the city gets beautifully quiet.

Rachel + Sean began their marriage adventure on one of those magical, rainy Savannah days. And in between the downpours, they had the good fortune of saying their vows outside as planned, with only a little drizzle dusting their shoulders as they said “I do.”

When you are planning a wedding, the decisions can feel endless. I know that choosing a photographer in a city like Savannah in particular can feel incredibly daunting, considering your Google search will bring up over 100 photographers. Yeesh!

So how do you manage those kind of numbers and that kind of important decision?

Well, I think I accidentally stumbled across a perfect method for choosing a wedding photographer when Phillip and I visited the Candlefish store in Charleston for the first time recently.

It’s Throwback Thursday, so let’s throw wayyyy back to high school today. Do you remember who your crush was back in those days? Of course you do! It was the boy who made the butterflies go crazy in your stomach. It was the guy you actually ran away from in the halls because the idea of actually talking to him was just too painful in the best way possible. You pined over him, doodled his name, and imagined what it would be like if you got married someday.

When Hannah said “I do,” she not only became a wife to Daniel, but also a momma to his three sweet children. This sweet family of five committed their lives to each other on a bright sunny day out at the Mighty 8th Airforce Museum in Pooler, GA, and there was nothing but smiles on everyone’s faces all day long.
