It had already started to rain, and the first look was supposed to happen outside as soon as Maddy put her dress on. And despite the rain, Maddy was smiling. Because she knew – she knew that her wedding day was more than the perfect photos in Forsyth Park. She knew it was about celebrating her love with Jon – even if that meant everything didn’t go quite as planned.

If you’ve been following my Stories on IG, you know exactly what a masking tape “X” on the ground means.
It means it’s surprise proposal time!
I put an X on the ground so the guy knows EXACTLY where to stand, and I do that for a couple of reasons…

Maddy + Jon traveled all the way from Oregon to have their wedding in Savannah – and oh, am I so glad they did! I actually didn’t meet Maddy + Jon until the night of their rehearsal dinner, but I felt like we were already close friends, because thank goodness for social media. Charity + Troy visited Savannah to celebrate their 12-year anniversary, and I could tell from the moment I met them that there was something special about their love. The way they looked at each other, laughed together, and touched each other held a weight that I could feel but didn’t have the words to explain. […]

They lean in slightly and earnestly look me in the eye and say some version of – “We don’t know what to do in front of the camera and always feel super awkward. Can you help us??”
And my response every time?
