When I heard that Ivory + Beau was working on a new website and needed headshots and photos of their boutique, I just knew I had to be a part of this project. Not only am I lucky enough to call these talented ladies my friends, but I am also slightly (ok totally) obsessed with their brand. They are the bossest of girl bosses–unabashedly weaving gold dinos and kitty cats into their bridal boutique branding, because it’s just so perfectly THEM. And because they know that their boho, quirky, creative brides will connect with a brand that isn’t afraid of a little whimsy.

So, speaking of brands, I approached this shoot like I would any other brand shoot: 1) Get familiar with my client’s brand, 2) Come prepared for the shoot with a feeling/vibe I want to capture, and 3) work from a client-prepared shot list and throw in some on-the-spot creativity.

Going into the shoot for Ivory + Beau, I knew I wanted a whimsical, happy and bright vibe at the shoot. I knew they wanted lots of pretty, light-filled photos of their shop, so I shot both close-up details and wide-angle shots to make sure the whole boutique experience was captured. (P.S. There are SO many tiny gold dinos tucked around their store–see if you can spot them all!!)

I also knew that the photos of the girls had to be filled with laughter, because if you spend even five minutes around Nicole, Adrienna, Nic and McKenzie, you will absolutely find yourself cracking up over something with them. They may be serious businesswomen, but their personalities are straight up FUN.
