The day began with sunshine, but storm clouds began collecting in the distance as I neared Woodlawn Plantation. By the time I got there, it was raining lightly, but when I walked inside there was a smile on Misty’s face. A little rain couldn’t ruin her day, because she was marrying Shayne, and that’s all that mattered. And as if by magic, the rain subsided, the table linens were drying, and it was all going to be ok.
As Misty walked down the aisle towards her sweetheart, everyone held their breath in anticipation as Shayne locked eyes with his bride. The air was still and a perfectly placed cloud filtered lovely light over their guests.

But little did we know what that cloud had in store for us about five minutes in to the ceremony…

RAIN. So much rain. I braced myself for everyone to run for cover, but it didn’t happen. Misty + Shayne held their ground, held each other’s hands, and held each other’s gaze. They weathered the storm together, and their love was palpable in that moment. I’ve never experienced a more magical moment in a wedding–the longer they professed their love to each other, the harder it rained, and the more tears came to my eyes.
Because what could be a better metaphor for this life journey they are beginning together? For better or worse, through sunshine or rainy days, Misty + Shayne will continue to smile and move through it together.

I think their cake topper sums up their wedding and their relationship perfectly: “Darling, you’re my greatest adventure.”
