Some of my favorite moments at a wedding are the smallest ones. The the loving glance between a mother and her daughter. The groom’s hand on the small of his new wife’s back as they chat with their friends. The bride glancing down at her wedding ring with a smile on her face. Old friends hugging tightly, reunited. The groom reaching over to wipe a tear from his wife’s cheek during the toasts. Rachel + Johnny’s wedding was full of these small moments. It was an intimate gathering of their closest friends and family, and their reception dinner in the dining room of the Harper Fowlkes House felt like the best Thanksgiving dinner ever–a time when family comes together over delicious food to just love each other and celebrate all the good things in life.

What’s better than getting married? Getting married twice (to the same person) of course! I had the honor of photographing Rosa and Matt’s intimate legal ceremony in Pulaski Square a couple of months ago, and it was the prettiest, most perfect day to say “I do.” Then you may have seen photos I posted on social media from a black tie wedding I attended a couple of weeks ago at the Cathedral here in Savannah–well, that was Rosa and Matt’s religious ceremony! So I got to be both guest and photographer, witnessing their commitment to each other twice, from two different perspectives. It was just the best way to celebrate two of my sweet friends starting their lives together. <3

When you are a wedding photographer in a destination wedding location like Savannah, often your couples don’t live here and you don’t get to actually meet them in person until the wedding day. But with Jessica and Mike, it didn’t matter in the slightest that we had only spoken over the phone–it felt like greeting an old friend the minute I walked into the hotel room where Jessica and her girls were getting ready.

Ya’ll know that there aren’t many things I love more than a Savannah wedding. They make my heart happy, and I still have so many moments of complete awe that I get to live here and actually shoot weddings in this gorgeous city. But, did you know that I don’t just shoot weddings in Savannah? Yep…I travel too! I recently shot a wedding in St. Augustine, FL, an engagement session in Gainesville, FL, and an inspiration shoot in Costa Rica. I adore traveling, and I always feel inspired in new locations. Earlier this week I got to be part of one of the coolest photo styled shoots ever—a retro modern poolside wedding! This inspiration shoot was styled by Ivory + Beau and set at The Brice’s gorgeous new pool area, and I am DYING to share the photos with you all! My favorite kind of wedding is the kind when you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that the couple is meant to be together. When the love is so evident, so tangible, that you can feel it not only between the couple, but between all their family and friends as well. It’s the kind of wedding when it doesn’t matter whether there are 15 mph winds or chilly temperatures, because you know the couple won’t even notice. The kind of wedding when the couple truly seems to soak in every single moment of love and happiness swirling around them. When you know that their wedding isn’t just an excuse for a party–it’s a day to commit their lives to one another, in the presence of all their favorite people. When it’s not just a day filled with beautiful dresses, lovely flowers, and gorgeous details…when it’s a day filled to the brim with love. This lovely day began with the girls getting ready at the gorgeous Philosophie Salon & Apothecary…

Carlos and Emily had the honor of hosting the first ever wedding reception at Southbound Brewing Co.! If you are looking for an industrial reception venue in Savannah, Southbound is a fantastic, unique location. Your cocktail hour (or, craft beer hour!) can be held at the bar by the entrance, you can dance the night away next to the tanks, and you can even create your own personalized small batch keg to serve your guests. Carlos concocted the Fancy Firkin Wit, with pineapple, strawberry and Eldorado hops, and I won’t lie…I totally tried it, and it was totally amazing. But you’ve also got the other Southbound brews on tap (the Scattered Sun Belgian Wit is my personal fave!), and your guests get to take home their Southbound pint glass as a wedding favor. You even have the option of upgrading to a monogrammed glass!

She works for Savannah Bee Company while pursuing her Pharmacy degree at Armstrong. He’s a Gulfstream engineer with a passion for craft beer. They both love things that purr — whether it’s her sweet kitty Thea or his current car obsession.
