t’s sooo cold here in Savannah, so I thought a little #throwbackthursday was in order, so we can all dream about this lovely spring wedding and pretend like it’s warm outside.

Oh friends, this elopement had EVERYTHING I love – a tattooed wedding ring, a whimsical Free People dress, flowers in the bride’s hair, the most magical golden hour light, shooting at both Lafayette fountain AND Jones Street, some epic lens flare courtesy of my new lens love (the Sigma 24mm 1.4 ART), and most important of all – a couple who is madly in love and ecstatic to have just eloped in sweet Savannah.

Q: At what point did you decide to do photography full time? What was the deciding factor to take the plunge?

A: This is such a great question!! I started shooting in 2009, and I didn’t actually decide to take it full time til…

Some days there is SO much in my brain I want to share with you, but I worry it will be too much. I worry that the fear and stress and anxiety that goes along with being a small business owner will turn you off and make you doubt me.

There is so much goodness in this life I created for myself. So much joy, so much laughter and so much curiosity. And those are the things I want to show you most, and those are also the easy things to share.

But it’s hard to know the right way to show you the days…

Suzanne + Gordon’s engagement session started under the oaks and ended with sand between their toes. From downtown Savannah to the Tybee pier, we spent the evening soaking up all the best parts of the Lowcountry.

Jade + Jurgen’s engagement session couldn’t have been more perfectly “Savannah” – from   Washington Square to Emmet Park, with ivy walls and brick steps along the way. We explored the Historic District together, laughing and talking about their lives in California, how the universe brought them together, and why they love Savannah so much.

Every once in awhile, I love to do a shoot just for FUN. No pressure, no payments, no one to please – just some play time where I can try new things and get the creative juices flowing.

When Rob + Kristy told me their elopement plan, I was ALL IN. From getting ready at River Street Inn downtown, to saying their vows at Wormsloe, to taking photos at Forsyth Park, to leaving in a pedicab, every moment was so perfectly “Savannah”…and so perfectly THEM.

A few weeks ago, Ansley + DJ visited Savannah on the one year anniversary of their miscarriage. They lost their son at 20 weeks to Merkle Gruber Syndrome, a fatal genetic condition, and they’ve continued to struggle with fertility ever since…

…and they chose to do a photo shoot as a memorial to their son because they know that their miscarriage is as much part of their story as their wedding day – a lifelong marriage will see ups and downs and everything in between, and it’s all worth remembering and honoring…
